The Stuarts certainly did not wish to be outdone by the Tudors. King William III and Queen Mary II commissioned Sir Christopher Wren to build a new baroque palace. The state rooms and royal apartments provide a regal and intimate insight into how the royals lived during the Renaissance.

What To Expect

We will meet at the main ticket office at Hampton Court Palace.

(N.B. Entrance tickets are not included with this tour for logistical reasons. The meeting point is by the palace’s main ticket office. Please ensure online tickets to Hampton Court Palace are available before booking this tour.)

We will tour both the Tudor and baroque aspects of the palace, including the gardens. As this is a private tour, it is unrushed. Breaks will be included.

An unforgettable day with John at Hampton Court! My friend and I did a tour of Hever Castle with John back in 2019 and have been waiting through the pandemic to come back and do this Hampton Court tour with John! John is one of the only tour guides that has permission to do private tours of Hampton Court and you could not be in better hands!

John always does a wonderful job of navigating you through the palace at whatever pace you would like. You are never rushed through a room or experience. John also has a wonderful relationship with the workers inside the palace so they are more than willing to share incredibly interesting stories about the rooms you're in, the art you're looking at, whatever it may be! It really adds to the overall experience.

I couldn't recommend this Hampton court tour or any tour with John enough! I can not wait to come back to the UK and see more of the sights with him!

John is an excellent tour guide. Before covid, he guided us around Hever Castle, so it was a no brainier when we wanted to visit Hampton Court that we would do a tour with John.

I've always known that Hampton Court is big, but wow that place is massive! Luckily, John knew all of the ins and outs and was able to guide us through efficiently so we would see everything. Since he knew we were very interested in the Tudor era, we focused on a lot of those spots throughout, while still getting to see some of the other generations of changes to the palace. He has a wealth of background knowledge of the history and is one of the few guides that has permission from the palace to do private tours.

He also expertly navigated us around several groups of school children :).

We had such a great day at Hampton Court with John & look forward to doing other tours with him in the future!

If you're looking for an insiders view of not only the Tudor history, but William and Mary and the Georgian occupants of Hampton Court Palace, look no further. It's a beautiful place, rich in history and full of gardens, secrets and so many things I had no idea about.
